BMW M3 F80 / M4 F82 Behind-Grille Cold Air Intake System (S55)

Engineered for BMW M3 F80 and M4 F82 owners, this Behind-Grille Cold Air Intake System draws fresh air from the high-pressure zone behind the front kidney grille and feeds the S55 turbo engine with denser, cooler charge air. Manufactured in Europe and quality-controlled by BYC Performance, it improves throttle response, induction sound, and measured power across all F80/F82 trims.

The factory airbox is restrictive and gulps hot engine-bay air. This behind-grille intake sources cold outside air from in front of the radiator, delivering noticeable power gains and a firmer torque response on the S55B30T0 turbo engine — across standard (425 hp), Competition (444 hp), CS (460 hp), and GTS (493 hp) trims. OEM MAF/MAP sensor sockets are preserved; no ECU tune required (plug & play).

Installation Notes

Professional installation recommended:

  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  2. Remove the OEM airbox and intake tube.
  3. Carefully transfer the MAF sensor into the new tube, same orientation.
  4. Mount the carbon enclosure to the behind-grille brackets.
  5. Install the filter and tighten hose clamps.
  6. Reconnect the battery and idle for 5 minutes (ECU adaptation).

Care & Maintenance

Wash the filter every 15,000-20,000 km using a filter cleaning kit. Clean the carbon shroud with pH-neutral shampoo.

Does it fit G80 / G82?
No. G-gen uses the S58 engine and different intake geometry.

No. F87 engine bay differs.
