Installation Notes

Installing the BMW F80 / F82 carbon air intake takes 60-90 minutes:

1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Remove the OEM airbox lid and intake tubes.
3. Transfer the OEM MAF/MAP sensors to the new carbon box.
4. Bolt the carbon airbox to the engine bay using OEM mounting points.
5. Connect the intake tube to the turbo inlet and tighten clamps (8-10 Nm).
6. Reconnect the battery, start the engine, and check for leaks.

Care & Maintenance

Clean and re-oil the conical filter every 15,000 km using filter-specific cleaner. Wash the carbon enclosure with pH-neutral shampoo. Do not aim a pressure washer directly at the box.

FAQ

Does it need an ECU tune?
No. The system is plug & play and requires no ECU changes. However, paired with a Stage 1+ tune it delivers additional gains.

Can I use the OEM air filter?
No. The carbon box is designed for a high-flow conical filter; the OEM panel filter does not fit.

Compatible with G80 / G82?
No. G80/G82 (2021+) use the S58 engine with different intake geometry.

Compatible with M2 F87?
Only the S55-engined M2 Competition F87 (2018-2021) is supported. Standard N55-engined M2 (240i) is not.

Compatible with M2 G87?
No. G87 uses the next-gen S58 with a different intake design.

Compatible with F83 Cabriolet?
Yes — BMW M4 F83 Convertible (S55) fits perfectly.

Will it void warranty?
OEM sensors and connections are preserved; installation is fully reversible and does not affect the manufacturer warranty.
