Installation Notes

Installing the BMW M2 G87 carbon hood is a full assembly swap. Two-person professional installation is required:

1. Open the hood and check the front cowl and any hinge-side cables.
2. Release the gas struts from both sides (helper must steady the hood).
3. Unbolt the hinges and lift the OEM hood horizontally clear.
4. Seat the carbon hood on the hinges and reconnect the gas struts.
5. Adjust panel gaps symmetrically left-to-right.
6. Test the latch and safety hook; torque the bolts to the manufacturer's recommended values.
7. TIP: The carbon hood is lighter, so OEM gas struts continue to hold it open properly.

Care & Maintenance

Wash with pH-neutral car shampoo. Apply carbon-safe sealant every 6 months. Keep pressure washer 30 cm from surface. Periodically clear leaves and debris from the inside of the vent openings.

FAQ

Will the vents let water into the engine bay?
No — V-style vents are directionally controlled with internal drip surfaces; normal driving and rain do not affect the engine bay.

Does this fit the BMW M2 F87 (2016-2021)?
No. G87 and F87 have different hood length and hinge geometry. A separate carbon hood is available for F87.

Is it compatible with the S58-powered M2 G87?
Yes — fits all M2 G87 trims (standard, Competition, the upcoming CS). M3 G80 / M4 G82 hoods are listed separately; bodywork is not shared.

Are the OEM gas struts strong enough?
